1765: The American Revolution began in 1765. On March 22, 1765 the stamp act would be imposed to require people to pay taxes on paper items such as legal documents, newspapers, and even playing cards.
1770: On March 5, 1770 a soldier killed 5 civilians with his musket because people began rioting and creating mobs attacking British soldiers. People had been angered by Britain's colonial policy and presence of troops and that's why they started to riot.
1773: On May 10, 1773 the Tea Act was passed by the British Parliament, giving the East India Company a monopoly on tea sales. This infuriated colonists who would later dumped loads of tea into the Boston Harbor. The event is known as The Boston Tea Party.
1774: The Boston Tea Party led to the Intolerable acts in 1774. The Intolerable Acts were laws that were meant to punish Massachusetts Colonists for throwing tea into the Boston Harbor.
1776: On July 4, 1776, the Second Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence which formally proclaimed the 13 colonies as independent.
1777:The Battles of Saratoga that were fought on the same grounds on September 19 and October 7, 1777, marked the turning point of the American Revolution and encouraged France to openly support the Americans against Britain.
1783: In 1783 the British Parliament and the United States agreed to the Treaty of Paris, ending the American Revolution.
